Hadland Care Group aims to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act, making every effort to ensure our communications are accessible to those with special needs, including those with visual and hearing.
We are therefore fully committed to providing an accessible web presence, in the following ways.
Overall
Pages on this site aim to conform to W3C WCAG level 2 and to validate as XHTM 1.0 Transitional.
Our pages are designed so that they are without horizontal scrollbars when they are viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
Navigation
The website page structure is conveyed using header elements.
Header navigation and links to our Privacy and Accessibility Statements appear at the bottom of every page.
Style of navigation remains consistent through the websites.
A site map is available to provide information about the layout of the website.
Text
Standard fonts are used throughout the site for easy legibility.
Text can be increased or decreased in size by using the "view" option in your browser.
None of our content includes blinking text or images, and none of the site will cause your screen to flicker.
Foreground and background colours contrast well throughout the site, with the majority of content appearing in black or Dark Grey on white.
No information is exclusively conveyed using colour.
A stylesheet is used on our website and relative font sizes on all text with the exception of graphical text.
Graphics / Layout
Wherever possible, we use live text instead of graphics to reduce the download time of pages and increase your control.
All images, where appropriate, have an alternative text attribute. This means that when an image is conveying important information its content is described with an alternative text.
The site is free of frames and uses a cascading style sheet for visual layout. Tables are used for tabular data, but we have avoided using them to dictate the layout of a page wherever possible.
Links
Most links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, and in the majority of cases the text of the link already fully describes the target. Wherever possible, links are written to make sense out of context.
Most links will however open the site in a new browser window.
Help
Every page of the site features a ‘Search’ button, helping you find your way to key information in the site.
A link to details of how to contact us for further information offline is provided from every page.
Where a process takes multiple steps to complete (for example, forms) an indication of where you are in the process and how far you have to go is provided.
